Between the 12th and 13th August 2019, Oxford Archaeology East undertook the archaeological strip, map and excavation of an area of 0.12 hectares of land off Beech Road, Saxmundham, Suffolk, in advance of the construction of a compound associated with a residential development. Apart from a short section of modern field boundary ditch being exposed in the northeastern corner of the site, no further archaeological remains were uncovered. It was expected that a further section of post-medieval ditch, identified during previous archaeological works would be exposed running northeast to southwest across the central part of the site, but this was not present, suggesting that this ditch either terminates or turns abruptly southwards and does not enter the site.
