Abstract

In September 2018 Oxford Archaeology were commissioned by Triskelion Heritage on behalf of Bloor Homes to undertake an archaeological evaluation of the site of a proposed 7.2ha residential development at Benson Lane, Crowmarsh Gifford, Wallingford, Oxfordshire. The evaluation revealed a limited number of negative features including a possible furrow, a ditch, a hedgeline and the remains of a headland. These features were undated although most likely they relate to the medieval and post-medieval use of the site as agricultural fields. The site appears to have limited potential for archaeological remains despite being located in an area of high potential and intensive multi-period occupation.
