The proposed development, an area of 0.65 hectares (TL 3151 7601), is in the historic village of Woodhurst. The development involves the construction of houses and related services, commissioned by D H Barford & Co on behalf of Fleming Construction. The site lies within a potentially rich archaeological landscape and has moderately high potential for archaeology, from all periods. Topographically, it is situated on quite a prominent position. Romano-British remains are located north and east of the site and there is evidence of Anglo-Saxon/medieval occupation, including human remains, only 130m north-west of the site.
